In my opinion our Government should take the step and have a base standard that what all features must be there for the safety of human life's.

Mileage is something whish has been the USP for every countries car maker and not just India but not at the cost of safety or compromising on safety.

ABS/Airbag/DRL are still found on high end model cars in India and people gets fascinated with foreign cars because of safety features.

That is because we have been tamed to be like it.
That's why as Civil Society we are lagging. It starts from our Education!
We need everything Phoren.
There were times when Hyundai Products were good.
Now they are also following MSIL, ultimately what matters is money. Who is bothered about the People safety? When customer is not bothered.
Every one is under mentality; it has happened to others naa, not happened to me! So why bother. Which will give a good mileage is what matters. In the event of accident all money saved is lost, more precious is the human life!

Absolutely right! Indian customers are not at all concerned about safety but mileage, average, "kitna deti hai" mentaliity. No wonder, car makers are giving cheapest models to India as compared to International versions. For example, car sold by MSIL in India has less safety features than its North American version. Why ?
I think only in india, air bags are sold as a luxury item and not as a mandatory feature.

Bro, nothing like that, entire world is concerned about mileage and that is the reason Hybrid and Electric cars are becoming popular these days.

Here in Canada, we have a set standard by the government and every manufacture needs to maintain that standard as basic so Airbag and ABS is not considered as feature here.

MSIL does not do business in NA, its their parent company "Suzuki" who does and again same, if they don't maintain that set standard they will not be allowed to launch any car's.

The government is strict and there is less loopholes so we get quality products, not only car but everything.

I think the focus is towards Hybrid and Electric cars because of search of alternate fuel and Petrol is becoming costly in processing and limited reserve.

Also, I was referring to MSIL (Maruti Suzuki India Limited) and they've exported cars to over 100 countries.
Maruti Suzuki exports two-million cars

Government is nothing if the consumers don't buy compromised products. The more consumers are aware, the more quality products they will get.

I do not agree consumer understands impact of buying a Compromised Products.
There has to be regulation and enforced on manufacturers. Remember the hue and cry by:
  • 2 wheeler manufacturers from BS-3 to BS-4.
  • All manufacturers from BS4 to BS6. Especially Car manufacturers from BS-4 to BS-6
When deadlines were provided the manufacturers have to comply and we get better technology.

Today people wear seat belts in a way to cheat Police and they are not aware that they are cheating themselves. How many people are really serious to wear Seat belts while taking ride in a car?
If there was no penalty from Government; people will not wear seat belts.

Individually as Customer or consumer has no say in India or matter in country.
Basically rules and regulations exist, to keep people safe. However flouting rules in India is Heroism and this is shown in Indian movies. People take Bad things quickly and do not bother to take Good things.

If the vehicle is in-warranty, company will take care. Once it's out of warranty, they don't know you.

I faced some kirr-kirr sound in the steering wheel (like many other owners) in the initial days but now it's gone automatically after a recent long drive!

My vehicle (Tata Tigor XZ New 2021) is in-warranty and I've purchased extended warranty also!! :)
