The big Gurgaon riddle... Help me solve it..

Hello fellow BCMTians..

I am looking to shift somewhere in GGN and looking for a place where me and wife can live peacefully (Now I know "peacefull" doesnt go well with ggn)...
Here is what I am looking for..

Budget - 15-18K, 1bhk/2bhk
Type - Apartment only as they are generally secure and come with reserved parking.
Location - Currently my office is in Sector 39 but will be moving to Sohna road soon.
Distance - As long as it is within 20-30 mins riding distance, I dont mind.

**Safety is of paramount concern, given the notority of Gurgaon. My wife is not working as of now, so it should not be an isolated area in case she wants to get out on her own for daily chores.

Any suggestions anyone ??? Any advice is highly appreciated.

Regards
Rohit

Gurgaon is generally peaceful if you follow the basic rules of keeping yourself "safe". Without similar amount precautions, you can be mugged almost anywhere.

Commuting in Gurgaon is a pain, especially now that metro construction is going on in some parts of the city. Prefer a house nearest to your workplace. Although I haven't been to Sohna Road much, I've lived in the DLF region for about an year. DLF Phase III is the place to avoid, though most of the working people in the region put up there. You can meet your requirements in any builder's township. They have all round security inside their campus. On the roads, you're on your own.

Hi Zack ..
thanks for the response. The biggest thing that is bugging me bad is the skyhigh rentals.. With just a single working member I really dont see any chance of moving in a decent apartment with decent security in my budget..

You can try Rail Vihar of sec 47 (near subhash chawk). Here you can get 1Bhk in around 12000 to 14000 pm. The society is reasonably good with excellent strategic location.

You can try looking for one in South Delhi. I'm sure your company will have cabs.

Tell you what, go try the "other" side of the highway. Coming from Delhi towards Jaipur, the sectors after taking a right from Exit 9

e.g. Rail Vihar in sector 15 Gurgaon
https://maps.google.co.in/maps?q=rail+vihar+gurgaon+sector+15&ie=UTF-8&ei=0FRUUsazBYXwrQeL2oHYCA&ved=0CAgQ_AUoAg

Advantages: Its a reasonably populated area with amenities within a scooty / cyclerickshaw distance, if not walking.
Cheaper rentals
Availability of 1,2 BHKs
No traffic chaos

Disadvantages: Will add ten minutes (average) & forty five mins (worst monsoon days) to your travel.
The apartments are older, so will not have swimming pools & clubs etc

I live on Sohna Road. The minimum rental is kind of Rs. 25 - 30K (not too many 2 BHKs around).

20 - 30 mins of riding distance - how bout Dwarka then???

You will get all the reqd amenities in your budget and since you will be riding so no toll mess.

However since Sohna Road is the other end so distance would be about 30 kms so do factor in the fuel cost and riding fatigue.

On second thoughts, you may be able to get something in 18 - 20K.

Have a few frnds staying in kothis in 15K type rentals, there is no dedicated parking but not much of an issue since a lot of plots are still vacant in sectors. And they say power situation isnt so bad now.

Not many apartments *this* side of Gurgaon will have 1bhks and getting something under 15-18k might be tough. I'd suggest you look for an independent flat with families staying in the other floors. Will be reasonably secure and you'll get parking for a bike easily. You might want to try the 43-44 sector belt and other close by places.
