“What you've done becomes the judge of what you're going to do - especially in other people's minds. When you're traveling, you are what you are right there and then. People don't have your past to hold against you. No yesterdays on the road” Well it was an impromptu decision to travel to Valley of flowers. As usual with no preparation at all, we decided to move on. Only thing we had was a road map of Uttarakhand which we had purchased during our last journey to Kumaun and unfortunately at the last moment forgot to carry. “We” includes the trio of Alpha that’s me, Papa and Romeo being the other two of the three musketeers. I am the leader of the pack since I own the car.. It was that time of the year again i.e. August 2009, when you find weekends and few holidays together making it extended weekends (Saturday Sunday, independence day and Janmashtmi). We packed our bags and went to office (Papa & Romeo being my colleagues) and decided to start our journey after office hours. We all punched out at 5.30 PM started from Moti Nagar, New Delhi. Here are few Stats for the completed journey first: Start Date: 14th August 2009 (Day 1) Start Time: 17.30 hrs. First Halt : 12.00 midnight – Rishikesh (250 KM approx) Day 2 : Rishikesh to Joshimath (300 KM approx) Day 3 : Joshimath to Govindghat (20 KM approx)(motorable); Govindghat to Ghangharia (15 KM steep trekking) Day 4 : Ghanghari to Valley of Flowers & back (6 KM steep trekking) Day 5 : Ghangharia to Govindghat; 30 KM beautiful drive to Badrinath Day 6 : Badrinath to Mana village (3 KM motorable); Mana to Vasudhara falls & back (5 KM steep trekking) Day 7 : Badrinath to Joshimath & Auli (50 KM approx); night stay at Joshimath Day 8 : Joshimath to Rishikesh (250 KM approx) Day 9 : Rishikesh to Delhi (250 KM approx) Day 10 : Rest Car used: Hyundai i10 Total Distance covered: 1050 KM Total Amount Spent: Rs. 19500 Teasers would follow..
