Honda City, Maruti Ciaz, Hyundai Verna, not necessarily in that order.
Max fun-to-drive car would be the Verna.

Hello RacerX, Hello Mr.Mathur,

After dreaded experience of i20's steering and floating backbench, myself and my family is not in favour of Verna.
Also the maintenance cost of Hyundai looks pretty high.. I have i20 and as per me it's expensive to maintain.

Honda City.. yes.. considering it .. price is a bit of bottleneck. Lets see.
any news about Ciaz Petrol, is it "good to drive" or lacks power?
Could not find clear ownership reviews of Ciaz petrol.
With i20 experience, bigger car with smaller engine is a no, unless some new technology (like ecoboost) has made the engine powerful.

Thanks a lot for your inputs.
Look forward for more support from all.

Regards,
Sachin

Do not neglect the Zest it should satisfy all your needs.

Go for the Diesel model with all Safety features. Do take a test ride before you decide. I bet your opinion about TATA will change.
Jaguar European Design centre has worked wonders on this all ready proven TATA car. Vista and Manza have been proven and do not suffer from any failures as such. This same car has been further improved in handling, interiors and quality fit and finish. Interiors and features are just second to Hyundai. The back bench support is awesome and can easily accomodate 3 adults comfortably. Tata is known for the ride quality but was not known for handling. This fault has also been removed and the suspension is all new and taut. Steering wheels is the best in its segment. Gear shift is feather light, although still doesnot match Hyundai quality in terms of feel but the throws are short and light. Being a diesel also makes some difference in shift quality.

As you want more power I suggested the Diesel. The petrol is not that bad too but with your previous experience of punny 1.2 Kappa engine in heavy i20 you did better be with a Diesel engine.

Maintenance costs will be less and service has been drastically improved. I own a 6 year old Vista. Talking from my own experience.

PS: I was pleasantly surprised when Auto Expert "Tutu Dhawan" recommended this car. He is not known for supporting TATA cars, but it seems he too has been blown away by this nice car.

Ideal car would have been a ZEST Diesel with AMT (Automatic Transmisison) with all safety features, but its not available. I did rather skip on the AMT than skipping on the safety features.

Sir, Verna
It has the most horrible steering feedback and wallowy suspension in its class.
Fun to drive petrol with good highway manners, has to be a Linea Tjet, nothing else in its segment comes close.

You can test drive TATA Zest for first hand experience. I think Honda City would be the safest and best option.
