Hi Deepam,
Thanks a lot for your very elaborate inputs.
To be honest, I am not looking at Tata cars, as the blank /dark interiors of Zest top end are not to my taste.
Also zest is a smaller car than a proper 3 box sedan.
Lets see.. just now recd a call from FCA Call center. Told them for Linea T Jet test drive and discounts...
They will get back in sometime.

Atleast the lady on phone was good.. was eager to connect me to the dealer through conf call and also answered my questions for offers, availability etc...

Hope, the FIAT service changes from now onwards :)
Many are hoping the same for years though.

Well Fiat isn't changing as for now. It the same shitty service they had half a decade back. I've owned 2 fiats back to back in last 10 years and I am fed up with their hopeless service and utter frauds. Avoid Fiat and buy Maruti, you wouldn't regret.

Well I am pretty late for this but I have a weird looking suggestion - go and test drive old ford fiesta once. It was best and cheapest sedan that i ever drove in diesel and I was about to buy it, however since I took 7 days to finalize the dealer went back on discount, so have to cancel it. Since I didn't like any other sedan waited for almost two years to save money to buy my car. I know lot of people will actually get shocked when I say this but in terms of drive quality, engine and quality of other stuff the car is simply too good and now ford has reduced price also. Yes it's a no frill type car so no fancy features, but if you want real value for money with some quality, do consider it. Service is ok. One of my friend still drives his ford Ikon and both of us love its drive. Take a test drive just for fun. And yes if you maintain it well, it can easily do 7-8 years of service.

Took a test drive of Ciaz ZXi with family. My daughter (6.5 yrs old) has fallen in love with the car.
As per her "car doesnt bump !!!!"
She could move on the backsit from the left to right with parents sitting without any problems....
(Safety issue ->>> will not be allowed to do this regularly in moving car though)
We are 5 - 5.5 footers... so the backseat is like a room for us. And the car a Hall-Kitchen Studio apartment.

BUT...
Drive is overall good... the not so good feeling about steering not centering completely is also valid. But looks getting used t, no issue, just a different behaviour of this car.
The power is good.. but I took it on a small ghat section and the power limitation was felt a little.
Overall good car to drive..

But will it go well with 5 adults + luggage. and wont get stuck on the ghat sections of Mumbai-Goa type roads, is my doubt... ? -> please share your inputs / experiences.

But overall very very good family car.. I will mostly go for it..waiting for my i20 to get sold.

BUT STILL ......cann't take the Jetta off my head.. somehow want my boss to increase my salary by 30-40K, without increaseing other's salaries. (to avoid INFLATION !!!!!!)

:)

Thanks A lot to all those who are helping me and mainly to team BCMTouring.

Hi IJS,
Fiat's problem of service looks grave.
They could not offer a TJet test drive at Thane, a major city on the boundary of Mumbai, rather part of Mumbai.
I plan to use the car for 7-10 years. And wish to drive it in various parts of India. (Hill and snowy areas of Himalaya are not on my agenda.)
Hence want a car which could be served better incase of any problems.

So taking out Fiat from my head.
Jetta is the one which has occupied me despite bad service stories.. that car is simply irresistible. ](*,)

Drive Sunny diesel - Nice car interms of mileage and pick up. Works well if you are a sedate driver.

Jetta looks impressive - you do not buy cars as museum piece do you?
It should give you a trouble free service.
