The Tour Of Thunder Dragon - Bhutan

Bikers Of Assam Maha Roadtrip is the longest motorcycle roadtrip of the year organised by Bikers Of Assam Touring Club.

Initially Bhutan was the destination for our first Maha Roadtrip in 2013 suggested by our member Jayanta Borpatragohain but we changed the plan and visited Sivasagar - Tezpur - Itanagar - Ziro & Majuli.

Our last years MahaRoadtrip http://www.bcmtouring.com/forum/travelogues-east-north-east-india-f64/bikers-assam-maha-roadtrip-2013-sivasagar-kaziranga-tezpur-itanagar-ziro-majuli-t55749/ was very successfull and appreciated by all.

We promised Jayanta that we will visit Bhutan next time. So the destination of Maha Roadtrip 2 was fixed more than a year ago.

The primary reason of not visiting Bhutan last year was the stressfull 1000Km ride from Duliajan to Jaigaon in Bhutan Border.

Secondly arranging Entry permits of Bhutan.

Thirdly we dint have much idea about the entry routes, direction & places of attraction of Bhutan.

The first 1000 kms ride of the roadtrip is very stressfull, damn boring, absolutely no views after crossing Guwahati. The only motivation is to meet some of my friends in Guwahati & Goalpara on the way Jaigaon.

The entry permits and route issue was solved by discussing the matter with some passionate travellers in different website and forum including BCMTouring. My thread http://www.bcmtouring.com/forum/international-itineraries-f93/bikers-assam-maha-roadtrip-2-international-t59666/ was very helpful for us. The members of this forum are very helpful especially http://www.bcmtouring.com/forum/members/sanuroxz-35847/ Everyone is encouraging and motivating us to visit Bhutan, so we are starting our MahaRoadtrip2 - International on 1st Oct 2014 and we will try to post live updates of our trip in this thread.

I was really sad as it was continuously raining in Assam since past week creating floods in Guwahati & Goalpara.

We had plans to visit Bhutan via Guwahati & Goalpara meeting our friends on the way but it seems we have to take another route via Tezpur.

Today the weather is bright and sunny. Hope everything turns fine by the end of the week... Anyways we are determined to visit Bhutan at any cost.
