Transportation by GATI - Mumbai-Chandigarh / Srinagar - Mumbai

Has Anyone transported their bullets using GATI from Mumbai to Chandigad (or Nearby) and back from Srinagar to Mumbai.

Need inputs on Cost / Delivery time / Quality of Service / Damages and other dos and donts.

Any input is appreciated.

I was looking for some real experiences, since some people in this forum have mentioned of delays and damages during road transportation.

Damages should be less than 4K each way including packaging...depends upon your bike weight and bargaining skills too.

Bike damages depend purely on your luck,I use it for better predictability(Bike from mumbai doesnt end up in some other part of India..actually happens with railways+they dont say luggage compartment is full so sorry it will be late)/online tracking and to avoid babugiri of railway officials

Hi,

Had transported from Trivandrum to Chandigarh. and then back from Delhi to Trivandrum.

Cost: They have per km per kg charge. It Cost me 3000 odd for a Bullet plus 500 for Packing. . Packing can be done by us also, but i suggest you leave it to them. They pack the bikes pretty good The helmet can also be included in the packing. (No extra charge for the helmet transport)

Delivery Time: Took 1 week for our bike. The trip was in three different trucks. Trivandrum - Coimbatore-Ambala- Chandigarh. However Mumbai to Chandigarh would be easier since they may be having service every day. So I presume its just the time required for a truck to reach Chandigarh from Mumbai.
Our bikes reached the exact date which was mentioned by them.

Quality of Service: Quite good. No unwanted things, Just a copy of the RC book and insurance needed. Need to sign a declaration too. The shipment can be tracked using their website.

Damage:1 Broken break light and speedo glass. had 1 thunderbird and 3 pulsars along. none of them had any damages. return trip was without any damage.

Summary:
Pros: Tension free , safe, punctual , shipment can be tracked, very good packing.
Cons: Costly

I had transported my pulsar bike from Bangalore to Delhi and it reached within mentioned duration(4-5days) and without any damage.I like their service.You can also received tracking of the shipping in SMS.

I called up Gati today and they said per Kg rate coming out of Srinagar would be 23 Rs / Kg which comes to a whopping 7K for a 200Kg bike when u add up all the taxes....Rest of the cities they charge 11Rs Kg...
Any experienced folks who have done so, can you please let us know of the approx rates that you guys paid....
Present rate I have is..

Blr-Del - 3.5K
Sri - Blr - 7K

Due to mountain section they charges exorbitant rate for Srinagar I guess.I transported Bangalore to Delhi in Rs3400 including packages. Better start riding from Delhi
