Transporting own bikes to Ladakh

Hi,

Me and few of my friends are planning to visit Leh-Ladakh in June. We want to take our bikes from Pune to Jammu via train and then explore there on our bikes. But we have recently heard that we need NOC for taking our bikes there in J&K.
Can somebody please clarify if NOC is really required. If yes, can somebody suggest from where to collect NOC, the process and the time it will take.

Any help other than this will be greatly appreciated.

Ive sent my bikes to chandigarh via OM LOGISTICS....service is good...packaging is good....very cheap and even you can track your consignment online on there official site...it cost around 2100 +250 for packging...use your bargaing skills...ride safe
