Trip update - Sep'20: -

A long pending visit to Kedarnath Ji done this week, it was lovely to see less/no crowd as compared to earlier (non corona) days.

Day 1
Delhi - Bijnore - Kotdwar - Satpuli - Devprayag - Rudraprayag - Kund - Phata - Sitapur/Sonprayag.

Roads between Kund and Sitapur are under construction and delay expected due to frequently blasting. We did 33 kms in almost 2 hours.

Since road between Rishikesh and Devprayag is under repair these days, there are two options 1) via Kotdwar/Pauri and 2) via Narendra Nagar/Tehri

Day 2
Sitapur to Sonprayag - 1 km
Sonprayag to Gaurikund - 5 kms
This was done via private taxi as we didn't want to use shared Taxis where possible.
Vaayu was parked in Hotel Kedar River Retreat where we stayed last night.

Gaurikund to Kedarnath Ji is 16 kms trek up, at the height of 3500 metres ASL.
Govt rate for ponnies (GK to KN) is 2300 rupees however you can negotiate and get it around 1200 - 1500 easily due to less crowd during Corona time.
Start early morning to reach temple before evening Aarti which starts around 6:30 pm everyday.

Overnight stay at Kedarnath Ji was chilling, it was 2°c on 20th Sep 2020.

Day 3
Kedarnath Ji to Gaurikund trek down then stay in Sitapur, same resort.

Govt rate is 1400 rupees but again it can come down to 900-1000 easily after negotiations.

Day 4
Visit to Triyuginarayan Temple, 14 kms from Sitapur - the place where Lord Shiva and Parvati got married.

Visit to Vishwanath Temple in Gupt Kashi, 22 kms from Sitapur - this temple is similar to Kashi in Varanasi.
Also there is another temple dedicated to 'Ardhnareshwar' a half man half woman form of Shiva and Parvati.
Lovely scenic backdrops of Chaukhamba around the place.

Drove further towards Chopta via Ukhimath and returned via Makku - Augustmuni, ended the day in Rudraprayag.
This was the beautiful stretch to drive on with so many waterfalls on the way and through dense jungle.

Day 5
Rudraprayag - Tilwara - Ghansali - New Tehri - Chamba - Narendra Nagar - Rishikesh - Haridwar - Delhi.

It was a good break from a monotonous schedule in COVID times, first trip of 2020

* Total kms - 1100
* We travelled with RTPCR negative report
* Report and epass were checked at 3 places and our details were noted (Kotdwar, Devprayag and Rudraprayag)

Happy Motoring
