Please update Road conditions from Thane,MH to Kannur, Kerala.

I’m planning a road trip. Any inputs would be great.
I’ll be taking the NH4 all the way to Belagavi then take a right on Highway 32 towards Anshi National Park and take halt in Anshi overnight.

Continue by journey next day on NH66 all the way to Kerala.

Please provide me update if any on the road conditions and any ‘beware of’ conditions on this route as I’m doing this route for first time.

    Thanks.

Karwar to Kundapura - 4 laning work is in progress and you need to change lanes.
Kundapura to Mangalore [4 laning work completed] - you have 3 tolls to pay at Gundmi, Hejamady, NITK Surathkal.
From Mangalore onwards till Kerala border [Thalapady], I guess 4 laning work is in progress. Post Thalapady, I guess it is only 2 lane.
I recommend you to start from Anshi before 7 AM.

    Cross Thalapady before lunch.

    Dear Deepam,

Thank you very much for this detailed info.
I hope the info is by any latest trip you did. I am planning to go in December this year.

Secondly have kids along so leaving early before 7 is kinda difficult. I was planning a visit to Muruseshwar also on the way. Do you think that is doable. ?

    Regards
    Thejas

Mumbai -Belgaum no worries from belgaum -Anshi you may face traffic in Belgaum city due to demolition of railway over bridge try to cover up belgaum Anshi before sunset.
You might have to stay at ganeshgudi or joida as staying options are very few or else need to travel to Dandeli as more staying options but need to spare some time.
Dandeli is beautiful for birdwatching too.

Thank you so much for the info. Is there an alternative route to Anshi bypassing belagavi to avoid that traffic. With 2 kids I doubt if I can maintain good speeds. I have booked a stay any dandeli. Unfortunately I won’t have time to take in the nature.

But thank you so much for responding. My plan is also to reach dandeli before sunset.

    Regards

It doesn't matter compared to Mumbai traffic.
U can easily do Mumbai -Dandeli in a strech.

That is encouraging. Where can I fill my tank up to encase the petrol price difference.

I believe Karnataka is cheaper than Maharashtra in that regard.

Also are there any good food options. Veg and non veg alike. Any good stops you guys might recommend me to stop at for all times.

    Regards

Anywhere after entering karnataka after kagal toll you can fill tank (most of the pumps are on service road)
    else after entering belgaum city.

if you are interested in veg food then hotel Amar it's on right side while going towards belgaum after crossing Nippani city before small ghat called tavandi.(on the highway)

For veg / non veg (Anywhere in belgaum low price good quality & quantity compared to Mumbai ) after entering belgaum city after belgaum macdonald towards left hotel Ramdev (maithili).
Or hotel Adarsh palace just a km ahead on left side.both on the way.

I am thinking instead of going via dandeli and nh66. It would be a better idea to go all the way on NH4 to Tumkur and then take the. Mysore Kannur route of highway 275. That would be less exciting but at the same time less demanding on everyone as I guess the NH4 all the way to Bangalore is a good road. I had being on this in 2011 when I did mumbai Bangalore in 1 day. Let me know your thoughts.
