What we need is competition for Royal Enfield and in that price range. Even though bonneville would be tempt the classic buyers, price difference puts the bike in a different league.

I guess we need to hope that Ural launches in India soon with their products.

They have been forced to re-think and rework their pricing as well as distribution strategy, keeping in mind that they want to be a major player in India with those 'considered high-end' premium motorcycles in India. I've got serious doubts if they'll be able to price the Bonneville, Speed Triple and Street Triple at the price which they announced earlier. Price for Tiger 800 is already high enough make it out of reach for most of the aspiring buyers.

That’s too bad. I guess they need to team up with an existing two wheeler or maybe even car manufacturer to leverage service and distribution hurdles that might be delaying the launch.

While there is a great chance of some of RE sales getting cannibalized due to Triumph, I can’t think of anyone else, who would be a perfect companion for them in India.

I don't think that's true. The cheapest Triumph costs 4.5 lakhs which is way more than any RE. I have got my eyes on Striple since the day they accounced about it in Auto Expo. Too bad they keep delaying it.

True, but when one can pay nearly 2 lakhs for a Thunderbird 500, they can somewhat consider the base Triumph model as well.
