Unalike to Frozen Nako and Malling

Day – 2 - February 10th, 2015 - Rampur to Nako

The hotel at Rampur was quite comfortable with very friendly and helpful staff. But somehow I could not sleep well this night for unknown reasons. Targeted to leave hotel by 0830 HRS so as to escape the early morning chill. Was ready well in time and left Rampur at 0830.

Had fuelled the bike the previous day at Ambala, so decided to refuel somewhere ahead. It was a bright sunny morning but very windy. Winds were so fast that even the bike was swaying on turns. Tanked up at Tapri and even filled up the five litre can that I was carrying. The fuel bunk at Powari is no more functional, so if you don’t tank up at Tapri then either go to Peo or carry on with whatever fuel you have.

Had to stop at a few places for Landslide clearances. Roads were bad as usual with some good roads in Ribba and Akpa area which were iced. Beyond Khab the roads became better but the amount of snow also increased. Throughout the way there were icicles hanging from the mountains and they were not melting. Went on with some video on-off stops and a few pictures on the way.

Rest I will let the pictures say……

The video below starts from Khab, Kazigs and goes upto a little before Nako....

Reached Nako Helipad Dhaba and stopped for lunch at around 1430 HRS. The plan was to carry on to Tabo or at least Chango. On discussions with locals I came to know that there was no staying options at Nako Village except Helipad Dhaba. And no one was aware of any staying options at Chango or Tabo. So instead of taking the risk of not getting a place to stay at Chango, Hurling or Tabo, I decided to stay at Nako Dhaba and go to Nako Village and Lake.

Thanks Amit, believe me, except for a little numb finger tips, I was quite comfortable. Maybe because mentally I was prepared for even worst conditions..

Thanks Paaji, kuch toh bolo.....

Lovely pics !!!!
Thanks Sahil.......

Fabulous ride Sanjay ji-awesome click that half one with ice inhibited camera-absolutely different perspective. As for the cold, bhaaji,if one wears a raincoat inside his riding apparel,it is much better in the cold climes-the raincoat and rain pant has to be the second outermost layer-feels a bit weird intially but seals out the cold much effectively-try it to believe it:D
Thanks Gaurav, a wonderful idea. I could not reach Tabo/Kaza this time, but I am sure in that area I would have donned the rain suit also..

Fantastic Sanjay Ji.
Thanks a lot Pande ji.....
