The '' button to the right of the viewfinder 'activates' the rear screen, allowing you to change the two rows of onscreen settings below the virtual dials.

The arrow is directed to Matrix metering. Change this for Center and Spot metering.

Hi,
I don't think one is better than other. They are all good for specific scene metering.
Spot metering does not work in all situations.
