You can reach Kevadiya by car, but it is recommended to hire a taxi or use a car rental service to make the journey more comfortable. The drive from Vadodara to Kevadiya takes about two hours and offers beautiful views of the surrounding countryside.

Once you arrive in Kevadiya, you can park your car near the statue and take a shuttle bus to the viewing platform. The shuttle bus ride takes about 15 minutes and offers stunning views of the surrounding area.

At the viewing platform, you can get up close to the statue and admire its impressive size and detail. The statue was built using over 70,000 cubic meters of concrete, 5,700 metric tons of steel, and 1,850 metric tons of bronze, and it took over three years to complete.

About Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was an Indian freedom fighter and political leader who played a key role in the country’s struggle for independence from British rule. He was born on October 31, 1875, in the village of Nadiad in Gujarat.

Sardar Patel studied law in England and returned to India in 1913. He joined the Indian National Congress and became involved in the freedom struggle. After India gained independence in 1947, Sarda Patel became the first Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Home Affairs. He is credited with integrating the 565 princely states of India into a united and independent nation. He is also known as the “Iron Man of India” for his determination and leadership in this effort.

Sardar Patel passed away on December 15, 1950. He is remembered as one of the most important figures in India’s history, and his contributions to the country’s freedom struggle and political unity are honored through various memorials and commemorations.

It was a lifetime opportunity to travel to the Statue of Unity which gave us countless memories. Overall, a trip to the Statue of Unity is a must for anyone interested in history and culture.

Best Time to Visit?
You can visit the Statue of Unity throughout the year but the best time to visit is in winter since the temperature will be pleasing to travel. There will be a lot of walking required to visit the SoU and nearby places. The Statue of Unity is closed on Mondays for maintenance work.

You can reach Kevadia from any type of travel mode:
  • By Flight/Air: You can take a flight from any major city to Vadodara or Surat Airport. You can then take a taxi, traveler, etc to reach Kevadia and other nearby places.
  • By Road: Kevadia is well connected with good roads by any part of the country. You can take bus services from nearby major cities and by car from any part of India. We love to do road trips and travel mostly by road.
  • By Train: You can take the most convenient mode of travel i.e Train. The nearest major train station is Surat which is 150 KM from SoU or Vadodara which is 90 KM and from here you can book a taxi or Auto rickshaw which will help you to visit all places in Kevadia.
