Want to start a Chemist Shop - Need suggestions !!!!

Hi Folks

I am interested to start a wholesale drug distributor/wholesaler business , so need suggestions from your side. As I have B.Pharm , so thinking of starting the shop.

Would like to know how much capital required to start new business ?

New to the business side, so any ideas are most welcome.

It all depends on where You want to start.
Location in city of Shop,
Rent of Shop,
Persons you will hire
Fridge / Freezer etc
Furniture
Electricity etc regular expenses
and many more things to watch for.
How You can manage all these things
Then You can start with a decent amount.

Tell us first 2 things as
these are the main hurdles for you
then other things come.

WHOLESALERS:
Medicine Wholesalers are at Palam Area, Dabri,
Uttam Nagar, Janakpuri Area (Posngipur etc), Rohini etc.
When You put Banner of Chemist on your shop,
you will see the salesmen coming to you automatically.
Put this earlier from you start the furniture etc or other jobs to do.
A Simple Banner of "Chemist - Opening Shortly" (Size-6 ft x 3 ft ) will do the job.
Ask those visiting Salesman for other Distributors etc.
Even Cosmetic Product Distributors / Salesmen have some knowledge.
Ask them or follow a salesman going to a store for selling goods.
Medicine Suppliers use Delivery Boys, ask them by watching other shops.

You should have earned some knowledge of a shop by working in nearby area as an assistant / supervisor / Salesman etc.
But You chose to start anyhow then apply these simple rules.
You will get what you want.
There are many salesperson of companies who visit Doctors in morning / daytime / evening at their Clinics.
Ask them.
They can be recognized by a Sample Bag that they carry regularly
(Now it may look like Laptop Bag also) moving on a Bike.
Mostly they sit outside in waiting patients area or
smoke outside for the time Doctor will meet them after he gets free.

Check websites of Medicine companies. Call them or email them for Distributors in your area.
Some companies may have West Delhi Distributors address/ Mobile No. on their website.
Ask them on phone.

Local Magazines like Dwarka Sandesh, Dwarka Special Magazines, Newspapers etc are there for your help.

There are many wholesalers at Naharpur, Rohini
and at Pitampura also !
Try to locate them.

Pros: Money
Cons: Loss

But if you are experienced in this line,
you may get what you wanted for.
Have a good Worker instead for initial start !

Hello folks I want to start retail chemist shop at Noida .
Satinder ji the two points you have mentioned in your post are main and in my case if I take shop on rent is it possible that the buisness will still be profitable ?
I will have to hire a pharmacist because I am new to the buisness.
I have done D pharm but no experience.

As per peoples opinion its not wise to have a rented shop . But I want to know how do people manage shops on rent and not many of financial backing.

I would also like to know distributors in Noida . Its mentioned on the thread that Ghaziabad people sell fake medicines which can be dangerous.

Yes, it is possible to run a shop on rent with profit.
But main point is a shop do not run on profit from day one.
Some shops take 6 months or more to come at equal level to expenses.


As per peoples opinion its not wise to have a rented shop . But I want to know how do people manage shops on rent and not many of financial backing.
They first get experience.
They know they have better customers in bulk.


I would also like to know distributors in Noida.
Its mentioned on the thread that Ghaziabad people sell fake medicines which can be dangerous.
When you start a shop, you will put a temporary "Chemist Opening soon" banner.
Some suppliers will automatically come at your place.
You can ask them about other distributors.

I will have to hire a pharmacist because I am new to the buisness.
I have done D pharm but no experience.
But it is always wise to get some experience
or
you should have more money to hire an experienced Pharmacist.

Better build an on-line model. Check out 1mg.com, a sort of subsidiary of Flipkart and it was called HealthKart Plus till recently. They offer a 15 to 20% discount most of the time.
