What is that water body near Chandratal?

Hi All
What is that water body near chandratal?
The new Lake that emerged?
Or an old lake that has been there and yet not explored?

Even I used to wonder which lake is that, never heard of this lake anywhere. Looking at google maps, it is somewhere 4-5 Kms from Chandrataal. Have heard of something like Samundri Tapu nearby but not sure what exactly that is.

Yeah, never googled Spiti before visiting it the first time. And then, did not find the need to but thought of just exploring it all along.
Just today, was checking something, and came across this!! Now who is gonna do this first?

Samundri Tapu, as far as i know, I read that it is a brownish patch between Chandratal which is considered to be inaccessible. Many stories attached to the lake.

Samudra Tapu is the plateau on which this Chandra Tal is located.

By closely looking at Google Earth, it seems it is not precisely a lake.

It is a stream, originating from the Glacier just above it, & is spread at this particular location (part of which is frozen) due to flat wide valley. It again narrows down as the valley shrinks & continues as stream.

Amit bhai, your description perfectly fits the water body on the right. But not so much to the one on the left.
Or are you referring to the one on the left? Looks like an isolated water body, larger than Chandratal.
I do see a stream going towards it, but then its cut-off, and its an isolated body. And no outlet either.
You could very well be right, but need more dope on this :)

My analysis could be wrong. But this sure doesn't look like a lake.

Thanks Amit bhai.
After seeing these pics .... your analysis seem apt :)
Now need to check, see, research whether this place would be accessible and how tough will it be to do it ;)
And if someone else is going there, please don't go without me <puppy face>

Cheers

There seems to be a stream joining Chandra River few kms below Chandratal. It is this stream, if walked upstream, can take you there. However, I am not sure, how different or beautiful the sight of the place would be.
