Chalo .......let's go.
Let D750 decide the focus and you will not be disappointed. It has great focus system and pretty fast.
Jiten, touch screen would be convenient for focus selection. focus point selection button is also conveniently located in D750 so you can change focus points without having to look away from viewfinder. Thanks for your suggestions.
My main confusion is due to following reasons.
1. For D500, I will need to buy a flash and will need to always carry it for indoor low light photography
2. D750 does not have touch screen which I would prefer to have since its very convenient for Focus point selection.
Dada you are right. But I find it very useful in Portrait using AF point manually.Let D750 decide the focus and you will not be disappointed. It has great focus system and pretty fast.
Thanks Ankur. You own D750, how comfortable you are with the navigation dial to select AF point. D750 does not even have joy stick (AFAIK) so is it fine for you without that.Jiten, touch screen would be convenient for focus selection. focus point selection button is also conveniently located in D750 so you can change focus points without having to look away from viewfinder.
personally i dont think touch screen is such a deal breaker. Firstly, it will use battery which is a scarce resource while travelling.
Secondly touch screen can be engaged only when using live view so it depends on your style of shooting.
if you also want to make movies of your camera D500 may be better choice due to touch screen.
Jiten, While both the camera are great. I will suggest you to base your decision on FX vs DX preference. Thanks Ankur. You own D750, how comfortable you are with the navigation dial to select AF point. D750 does not even have joy stick (AFAIK) so is it fine for you without that.
And also from your point of view, which body do you suggest and with which lenses?![]()
I will visit Nikon showroom and check both personally.Jiten, While both the camera are great. I will suggest you to base your decision on FX vs DX preference.
My suggestion would be to go FX route looking at your requirement. Looks like you will be using your camera more on wider end than tele end.
Another factor to consider is, camera manufacturers make professional lens for FX format more than DX format (there are hardly any). You can call this marketing gimmick.
So you will be limited by the choice of lens available for DX format. Unless you want to buy FX lens and use on DX.
I am quite comfortable in navigating AF points using rear dial. I have never used a joystick or touch screen so can not comment how convenient it would be.
Every camera has different layout and it take time to get used of it. So i am pretty sure, its about getting comfortable with dials and button.
What i do not like about D750 is its AF point spread. There are no AF points towards the outer section of sensor. I will suggest you go and check AF layout of D750 and compare with D500.
Here is how it compares against D810

Henry, I have spent 4 years with D5100 and would now like to go to high end body whether its FF or DX.Since you are not interested in action shoot you don't need D500.
I'd suggest especially for street shoot and low light shoot, you go for D7200 and for lenses Sigma 18-35 f/1.8 and 50-100 f/1.8.
With these combination you'll seldom need a flash. The low light high ISO quality of D7200 is very good and also the focusing and buffer is good.

Jiten, thing with lens is every lens has its own target audience. So your requirement and shooting style decides what you need. I will share my previous experiences and future planning.I will visit Nikon showroom and check both personally.
By the way, what would be an ideal combination of lens on FF for you if I want to build it gradually by spending lets say another 1L in lense over one year of time period?

Lens which you suggested have wonderful reviews, I will see if I can check out personally before making a decision.
Jiten , you have very good advises here. If I was you my approach would have been different. Always keep in mind that great lenses on shitty body ( and D5100 is a very fine camera) is always better than shitty lenses on great body. Your 1.5 L budget is not gonna suffice , I am afraid. You have mentioned street, portrait and landscape. I would suggest keep your body & lenses. Get the new Nikon 18-35 ( or tokina 11-16 if you plan to stick with DX in near future) and 70-200 F4. You will see an instant jump in contrast, sharpness and colour rendering. That would also leave some money with you which you can use for a 24-120 F4 or the great 85 1.8 AFS G . Also look of for used lenses in forum like JJmehta. Once your lens arsenal is in place later go for an FX body. Just for your thoughts.I am too looking for updating my camera in near future.
I have Nikon D5100 with kit lens and 35mm, 50mm primes presently.
My main interest is street photography, portrait and landscape. I am not into Wildlife/Sports photography, though a good medium range fast zoom lens for street portrait is in my wishlist for future.
Please suggest a body + lens kit within 1.5L range which serves me for a long time. Which would be better between D750 and D500. (One difference which I can see in favour of D500 have touch screen which I think would be quite handy for Focus point selection.)
