Which Laptop to buy?

These laptops available in the market are mostly the consumer processor based ones which cant standup to the load thrown by the heavy software. Try picking up something from the Lenovo Thinkpad Series or Dell Latitude ones. Even the i3 procs on them are of business grade and handle the abuse lot better than the consumer procs.

Laptops in the above mentioned links are Thinkpad series ones are very reliable machines for all the workloads.

Purchased HP Brand, i3 4th Gen, 4 GB Ram, (2 slots 1 used), 1 TB HDD. 30,500. ( Laptop Bag, HP Wireless Mouse and HP 8 GB Pen drive and Cleaning Kit). Windows not included thus he has installed pirated one.

Good buy... Can utilise the unused ram slot later on if you feel the need

Okay some more confusion now...
I recently installed LR6 on my wife's Macbook Air (i5 + 8GB RAM+ Flash storage)
I was totally floored by the performance. My old Dell Studio (i3+4GB RAM) looks prehistoric to me now :(
Same picture looks totally different on both laptops. Looks like viewing pictures on Dell is now an insult to DSLR :D
Budget increased to 2500$ now.

So now I am looking at following spec: (I think this should be good enough to last next 5 years)
i7+ 16GB RAM + Flash/Fusion + Retina/4K

So now it is XPS 15 vs Macbook 15 inch.
I created a poll on Facebook - 32 votes for Macbook 15 against 8 votes for XPS 15

As I have been a windows user, buying a Macbook will mean spending time to learn a new OS :(
Anybody using a XPS 15 model here? Does it heat up? (my only worry with Dell)

I ruled out iMAC because 27 inch model (has 5K but) is too big for my home usage. 21Inch is what fits my requirement but is not having 4K/ Retina.

PS: I can manage a discount of 15% on Macbook through a friend.
