Which ND filter

I am using it, it is fine for an entry level filter. But please keep in mind that a 3 stop ND filter won't help smooth the water much during the day. For that you need a 6 stop or a 8 stop filter or stack filters.

Ohh.. Got it.. I thought this was a 8-stop filter.
I checked after your post and ND8 will give an increase of only 3 stops ](*,)
This won't be of much help.

What you're looking for is this, https://www.amazon.in/Hoya-Neutral-Density-ND-400-Multi-Coated/dp/B00063Y95I/ref=sr_1_5?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1529371557&sr=1-5&keywords=ND-400. It isn't easily useable and does leaves a colour cast and reduces saturation, but this is what you really need to get long exposures during the day. Though for really long ones, you will have to stack even this one.

Thank you for the link. This would be perfect for long exposures. But looking at the cost, i will wait for sometime. :(

Hi Yogesh,
Unfortunately vari ND don't work as well as fixed ND. I have 2 vari ND filters Hoya and an expensive SinghRay, both advertised as 10 stops.
However, you can only get 2.5 stops to 6 stops. After that you get nasty banding (cross band) on the entire picture making it useless.

That's too bad. I was thinking about buying them, since they are a boon for video.
