This video shows you how to clean or replace the mylar strip on the HP Multi Function Printers. Your issue will be a solid line down the page when you are scanning or copying documents through the ADF (Automatic Document Feeder). If you use the flatbed or print the lines will no appear, only when using the ADF. This is a very simple procedure able to be performed by anybody. It is caused by dirt building up under the strip. This is generally from dirty pieces of paper or paper with ink that is not completely dry being copied. I find that a clean of the strip will fix your issues, however the strip is a consumables o will need to be replaced periodically when it cannot be cleaned perfectly. This is a few month old printer which is having this issue. This is not an isolated problem as we now have 3-4 of these new printers doing the same thing.

How to resolve issue:

1.
Setting
System setup
Print quality
Color calibration

2/11/19 - The following worked for my HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M476dw: Downloaded and installed HP Print and Scan Doctor. I ran the HP Print and Scan Doctor using the printer's IP address. I clicked on the item to Fix Scan Issues on the Document Feeder. Text in the resulting window indicated that the software found and fixed some issues. Double-sided black and white copies using the document feeder no longer had all those streaky lines.

Had this exact problem. The solution is just to replace the black roller cartridge, regardless if it's empty or not. Instantly solved my problem.

4.
replace the BLACK toner cartridge a new one and clean all the rollers using lint free PAPER or wipes moisten of isophropel alcoho.... let it dry then do the sample print 90% working

5.
defect is in the cartridge roller because it got scratched while rotating . and scratches may happen due to Staples pin and dust accumulated inside printer

6.
Was having the exact same issue - found this was able to resolve it:
officejet pro 8600 printing black vertical lines when copying


Is this unit plugged into a direct wall outlet? If not, then try plugging the unit into a direct wall outlet.

The Officejet Pro 8600 has a built in surge protector and doubling this feature up can cause some issues.

As well, try hard resetting the printer:
* Unplug unit while the printer is turned on
* Unplug the other end of the power cable from the direct wall outlet
* Wait 30 seconds
* Plug unit back up
