Why Battery Dies / Discharges of a Mobile Phone or Camera etc. After Full Charge?
There are many cases, I have seen in these years.

___________________________________________________________________________
Edited in Nov 2013:
If battery discharges slowly in 1 day / 2 day / 3 day in working Mobile,
is considered OK.
Some batteries may learn to charge / discharge at certain level,
this is a sort of memory Effect.
Lithium Ion Batteries, used in Mobiles are not prone to Memory effect.
But Temperature Difference can make all the diffrence.
As After 4 Days my S3 Mobile Battery is OK,
after I put my enquiry here about reasoning.
It appears to be a simple THERMAL EFFECT
that takes place when Cold Season is approaching.
Night gets cooler, days are hot in Sun, Shades are cooler.
Like now last 10 days of October this year.
When a sudden Cool Effect of Colder Wave approaches
this type of Thermal Attack will discharge battery more often.

There are many reasons of Discharging or Dying of a battery.
Thermal Shock is really annoying and worst reason and often Misunderstood.
What happens is, we cannot understand the reason and start blaming chargers etc.
When temperature of normal room or atmosphere start to change and you feel days are warmer and evenings or nights are cold, our battery can't cope with this.
It shows charge drop in faster and it may show Low Battery when thernal shock is more.

How this happens, now you know.

What happens? Symptoms :
Battery shows low charge in after 5 minutes or half an hour or more.
It all depends on temperature difference.
Assume you fully charged your mobile as in routine
and
put it in your pocket.
While charging Your battery gets hotter.
Mobile is in your pocket means it is getting warmth of your body.
It keeps Your battery hotter like Thermos.
When you take it out it,
It now Lacks Body Heat and
gets to the room or outside temperature.
Now if temperature difference is more than 15 degree Celcius
it may affect working of a battery.
This is what happened to me on 21 October 2013.

Who are affected ?
Mobiles who are made up of Metal bodies or
Metal Covers are more prone to Temperature Change fast
as Metal is good conductor of Heat.

Mostly new mobiles with new batteries may take this easily.
But one year old batteries are surely affected by this.

With emerging new touch Screen phones batteries are getting bigger.
Thus more prone to feel the temperature difference and above problems start.

This happens in case of camera batteries also.
Mostly good batteries that are written operating -20 to +40 degree celcius.
But cheaper ones are prone to affected by this temperature difference.

Those who goto any hill station like
Shimla, Manali, Ladakh, Jammu & Kashmir
may have affected by this.
But only few can understand the reason.

I have seen this temperature effect on Mobiles
of Nokia, Blackberry, Samsung, Apple etc.
Even People bring this to shops and many Mechanics fail to understand this thermal effect.

Camera Batteries of Alkaline, Nickel Cadmium, Nickel Metal Hydride etc.
have same temperature effect.
Good batteries are Eneloop, Sony etc. with mention of
handling such working limits of temperature.

Eneloop Batteries are best ones for camera in cold conditionsetc.
Some Info:
Does temperature have an effect on their performance?
Yes, temperature does have an effect on eneloop's performance.
If it is too hot, the high temperature could cause the battery to discharge at a more rapid rate. On the other hand, eneloop works better than alkaline, and other rechargeable batteries in freezing temperatures!

If it takes time of 1 or more days, that is normal but immediately or in few hours is not a normal behaviour.
My S3 is showing this behaviour from last 3days.

In that case, either the battery isn’t getting charged properly (try charging it through your computer and different USB cable) or battery’s life is over.

Although 1 hour is short time, but try formatting your phone so that you get rid of all the apps... most of the time this thing works for me.

Charger is charging it to 100%.
My Nokia N97 or other phones are ok with the charger.
S3 is 15 months old only.
I will try other charger.
I will try to format S3 now.

Am not expert but pl check if you have kept the wi fi and GPS switched on. These do suck up a lot of battery especially when searching for signal and that is either feeble or unavailable.

I have disconnected all the wi fi gps etc features.
Something is wrong in S3 may be Battery or App or Charger.
