Why should we not fill petrol till tank neck in BS4 model of Classic 350

zestbiker-if there is a SPIRIT,I ride it
Only thing that should be taken care of while filling to the neck of the tank is that the filling hose should not mess with any fuel gauge sensors on the tank -have seen people break their sensors with deep insertion of the filling nozzle into the fuel tank opening @Shreee

i like the dominar but i think it will be too heavy for bumper traffic!
Read my ownership thread once again i have mentioned this many times, that the bike is weight less once it starts moving. The chassis is so brilliant that it makes it so easy to squeez into gaps and attack corners with confidence.

But Dominar has vibrations in the seat, foot-pegs and handlebar at any RPM above 4500. Gets extremely tiring to ride over long distance due to vibrations

I am planning Leh trip in coming months and i need to fill tank till top. So do you think i might end up with any issues during the travel?
and how ru planning to heat up ur bike in leh ........? only thing that u should be worried to heat up is ur body ..... and plan about the road conditions.....

how serious is and air lock in two wheeler tank. open up ur tank cap and close it up again...

still if u want the trouble out from ur bike. replace the top tank lock assembly with the old RE. or get a hole drilled in its cap 2mm dia frm any lathe shop.......

I recently faced the issue of bike stalling after filling petrol till fuel tank mouth as mentioned in RE Classic 350 Owner's Manual. Took the bike to RE workshop and the issue was diagnosed as due to petrol going in the evaporation pipe. The technician blew pressurized air in the pipe to clean it. Thereafter I did not face the issue.

After this incident I wrote to RE customer care and yet to receive any response even after 2 reminders.

Subject: incorrect information in Owner's Manual of RE Classic 350

Dear RE Team
I bought a RE Classic 350 on 2-Dec-2017 from Kolkata Bike Zone. I'm writing this mail to bring to your notice an issue I faced while operating the bike as per instructions in Owner's Manual.

In page#14 of owner's manual it is mentioned that "Please ensure fuel is filled till fuel tank mouth" (refer screenshot below). I had done exactly that last Saturday night. From next day I noticed the bike is missing acceleration while riding and also giving starting problems. I took the bike to Kolkata Bike Zone workshop today and they diagnosed the issue as petrol flowing into the sensors through air vents on top of fuel tank. They strongly suggested that I should not fill fuel till tank mouth and keep a good gap. Later I googled about the issue and found same being thing being mentioned i.e. do not fill upto mouth.

Please let me know what is the correct level upto which I should fill petrol in fuel tank. In case I should not fill till mouth of fuel tank, I suggest RE should update Owner's Manual so that same issue is not faced by other customers.

Hi,

I have a similar query as yours.
I Got My TB350 BS 4 Delivered Recently On 23rd June 2017.
During Delivery, The RE Mechanic Explained Certain DO's And DONT's With One Of Them About Being The Built Of Air Inside The Fuel Tank.
Issue: Air Build Up In The Tank On Being Kept Idle In The Sun Or Anywhere For More Than 3-4 Hours. Before You Start Your Bike, You Have To Open The Fuel Lid And Let The Air Escape.
Reason (Given By RE Mechanic): Certain Changes Were Made To Fix Leakage Issues In This model (The EVAP system as explained above) . As A Side Effect, The Air Evaporating From The Petrol Locks And Builds Up Inside The Tank. The Fuel Lid Has To Be Opened To Let The Air Escape Before You Resume Riding.
My Investigation: 1) I Have Noticed Air Escaping The Fuel Lid When The Above Scenario Happens. A Couple Of Times, The Air Escapes Such Vigorously That There Is Also A Loud Sound Generated With It.
2) When I Keep The Bike On Side Stand For Some Time, On Resuming Back The Ride, The Bike Stops After Some Time. It Stops In A Way Like The One We Experience When The Bike Goes Into Reserve. On A High Level, It Seems That The Bike Is Not Getting Any Fuel Intake. In Such Cases, I Open The Fuel Lid, Let The Air Escape And Then The Bike Starts Effortlessly.
Other Issues: Due To Above Explained Issue, The RE Mechanic Asked Me To Fill Only 10 L Of Fuel At Max So That When The Air Escapes, The Fuel Does Not Gushes Out With It. He Also Told Me That The Bike Has Only 16 L Of Fuel Capacity As Opposed To The Official Stat Of 20 L.
Over The Internet, I Did Not Find Any Stories Of Similar Issue apart from this thread. I thought the issue was with my bike individually.
Has anyone tried filling the tank up to the brim and faced any issues with the BS4 model? Also, anyone facing stalling issues with the bike when kept on side stand for sometime? Thanks in advance.

I am also facing the same issue of Vehicle stalling every 1 to 2 KMS, this i am facing after the last service,. If I open the tank lid, shake the tank, close the lid and start, it will start immediately and run and once again it will stop. Very horrible, after buying a costly bike, facing this type of issue is nagging. To be safe, i ride in the side of the roads only, even for changing the lanes, i feel terribly afraid due to this issue. pl let me know for your issue, you have got any solution.

RE should give solution, unfortunately the solution given to me by them is very absurd.
