Yamaha planning to bring back RX100!

What next a four stroke RD350 with mileage of 35kmpl
RX 100 was one of the best 2 stroke your money could buy, but I doubt the magic can be revived in its 4S avatar.

Just hope that Yamaha won't give a launch date of 1st April.

On a serious note, it could be just another try from Yamaha to have a pie from 100cc market. I forsee something like ZEN Estilo which completely murdered the original Zen.

+1. I am waiting for the cylinder-piston kit for my 5speed RX as they say its out of stock. They don't even have the 2T oil blaming on short supply. Also heard that they are now going to price these spares stratospherically. Estimated cost of the cylinder-piston kit is expected to around Rs6,000. Thats cheating, straightaway.

Vikas, if your stroker is for keeps, i'd say by it now for whatever price (sad story) and hoard it. You have no idea how much we RD owners pay up for used-20 year old- junk parts. It is a pretty crappy story year-on-year.
The Rx market also seems to be heading in the same direction as the RDs. The saddest part is, the RD needs two of everything! :|
and then you hear news like this which is just plain disappointing! like someone mentioned in this thread, the RX wasn't famous coz it was a looker. The only thing that made the RX sell like hot cakes was the 2 stroke hyper lil motor, cheap to run and loads of Fun in the city! if the company plans to bring back the RX and put a 4 stroke 100 in it. What is the bloody point? i don't get it!

Maybe they plan to put the R15 mill in it? You know a naked street bike without all the fairing etc. and light to boot, priced rightly it would give Bajaj some sleepless nights.

Well I am just reading between the lines and if you actually go through their statement, they aren’t saying that they are going to launch a 100cc motorcycle or even 125; they are just saying that they are going to launch something on the lines of RX100.

Which at least for me means a light and zippy street bike, capable of giving bigger and heavier motorcycles a run for their money.

Of course they can make the blunder of just introducing a 100cc 4st commuter in the avatar of RX100 or worst still decide to use the FZ16’s engine, but if they are really smart, they will launch it with slightly detuned R15 engine (just to make R15 still attractive), price it close to the Pulsar 220 DTS-Fi and then watch the sales climb.

hmm... but why?
Let's all shoot in the dark:
** warning: longish post ahead **
Scenario 1:
RX 100 looks (read frame, tank, tires, etc etc) with a 4 stroke 100 mill! :| Joke!

Scenario 2:
RX 100 looks with an R15 liquid cooled mill
Speculation: why? The R15 is a super sweet handler, why would they remove that and put the R15's mill in a frame like the rx's? Funny!

Scenario 3:
No RX looks, no RX mill ( which is most likely the case)
Speculation: if the frame isn't the RX's, the mill isn't the Rx's, then why is the "comeback" of the RX? lol!
