According to a story published in October edition of BSMotoring, Yamaha is planning to launch R1 next year and would likely follow it up with the launch of Yamaha MT-01 and add to that they are also testing TDM850, FZ1 and R6 for a possible launch in India.

While Suzuki is planning to launch GSX-R-1000 early next year and is also contemplating launching the Suzuki Hayabusa.

Good times ahead for bikers in India, better start saving up guys!

How small? Nothing smaller than a contemporary 250cc please, which takes that ol' Fazer 250 outta the equation.

Cheers,
Shamik

Well the R6 is on the cards, but I have a feeling most motorcycle manufacturers would like to import only the high capacity models, since majority of the sale would be to people who want to buy these bikes to show their status rather than genuine motorcycle enthusiasts.

According to the article, we could see these as early as the first quarter of next year. With regards to R6, I agree its a more practical choice. However the concession in duties is for 800cc and above motorcycles, which would mean the duty being levied on an R6 would be higher than that of a liter bike.

what will be the cost of these bikes? finance will be available for these bikes? how much it will cost for insurance?

Dibaker they will be launched at roughly 10 lakhs, so unless the companies start taking the CBU route or a manufacturer starts manufacturing them here, they will remain expensive. No idea about the cost of insurance, though finance should be available once they are launched.
